Marilyn saw the following illustration in our USA Today paper the other day. Whenever she sees maps like this, she always checks to see the status of her home – McDonald County, MO. For those less familiar with Missouri geography, McDonald County lies in the southwestern-most corner of the state. It is easiest to spot in the map of Elderly Poverty (below). It is bordered by Arkansas to the south and Oklahoma to the west.
Sadly, McDonald county has high rates of poverty for both elderly and children. It makes her sad that there are still hungry children back home.
