In early September, 2011 Al got a mail order orchid. The leaves were lush, but it didn't look very promising.
He has been nursing the orchid for the past several months and it is now starting to blossom out. He says his secret ingredient is cinnamon. I don't know if he plans to eat the orchids or what. Actually, he just told me that it isn't used until the blooms are dropped or clipped. The cinnamon is dusted on to prevent any plant infection that could cause a problem.
He is very happy with the results. A nice thing about orchids – the blooms last a very long time.
