A LITTLE LATE FOR CHRISTMAS, BUT WHAT THE HECK

Yesterday Marilyn said she was going to make some cookies. In the kitchen she went and soon the cookies were baking (while the stove grates were in the dish washer).

    

At first I was quite impressed with her cookie making skill until I learned that these were preformed  cookies that she bought on sale at the grocery store.

    

Nevertheless, Al said they were quite nice and tasty. I'm glad to see Marilyn beginning to cook more these days. Maybe she will come up with some treats for me.

I am in the dog house this morning with nothing to blog about.

                                               

Maybe during the rest of the day something will happen. Something good, I hope.

PURPLE BERRIES

Here we are in late December in Minnesota and the weather has been unusually warm with no snow. Not what we were led to believe would be the case for this time of the year. We aren't complaining, it is just kind of eerie. It is like waiting for the other shoe to drop in the form of a blizzard or ice storm.

Earlier this month Marilyn saw some vines with berries clinging to a concrete wall. She thought they made a pretty pattern and took some pictures.

                     

Here is a closer look, I don't know what kind of berries these are. Marilyn thinks they are grapes.

                    

Maybe one of my readers knows?  I know that M & A need to get out more. The weather isn't an excuse for them to stay the house and I need some private time without them being constantly under my paws and they need to find some new material for me to write about.

POTTY TRUCK

Things have been pretty dull around here after all the excitement of the Christmas holiday, but fortunately, it doesn't take much to amuse us. I happened to see a plumber's truck at the neighbor's house across the street. Having anything clogged is not a good thing, but having sewer problems is among the worst.   

                         

 Apparently this company has prompt service, but has a warped sense of humor, too.

CHRISTMAS GIFTS -2011

Below are a few of the gifts Marilyn and Al received this Christmas. The greatest gifts were the love and support that we have received this year from family and friends while we recovered from some of the trials we experienced in 2011.

Things for the house include a nice bath room mat and a frame to replace one that we lost in the flood.

    

Things for stomach were chocolate covered strawberries and cookies made and decorated by Max.

 

I got a plastic bone, big deal! Nevertheless, we all wish you the best for the coming New Year and we are grateful for the good things that happened in 2011.

CHRISTMAS DINNER - 2011

Yesterday Marilyn and Al had their Christmas dinner at the Twogood's. Ben and Vicki and the boys had opened their presents in the morning.

    

Vicki was the cook with Ben helping out. Vicki wore the apron that was her gift from the boys

                           

The boys, Max and Ian had to quit playing with their presents to come to the dinner. Al chose the wine –  it was called “Red Truck”. I have no idea how it tasted, but wonder if he is missing the Ozarks a bit. :-)

    

Oliver Saffron (Little Yellow Cat) was not told he had a present but went looking for it anyhow. He found his catnip toy and was happy to have it. He guarded it the rest of the day.

    

It looks like they had a nice Christmas day. I got a extra treat and a special bone to chew on.

M & A's CHRISTMAS GIFT

NOTE: It is Christmas Eve and Al and Marilyn wish all of their friends and friendly readers a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. They lost their postal and e-mail address books in the flood so they are unable to send personal greetings this year. Nevertheless, they are thinking of all the friends and family who have been so important in their lives, especially in the past year. Our best to you from the Williams household –  Al, Marilyn and Lucky

Yesterday Marilyn and Al received the Christmas gift that they gave to themselves.

        

They now have an iPad.

Al spent most of the day trying to figure out how to work the thing.

I am not sure he has it figured out yet. I know I could help if he would just let me get my paws on it.

OPERA HALL

In downtown Hopkins we have a building called the Opera Hall.

The Opera Hall has been there a very long time and it has been re-purposed as a very successful cafe/bar and a dance studio. It would appear that the building was constructed in the 1800's  as it looks as if it had a shop on the first floor in the early 1900's. What makes Hopkins so charming is its use of well-constructed and maintained older buildings –  a concept that seems to be foreign in McDonald County, MO where Marilyn grew up.

                      

I don't have any more information about the current Opera Hall but will continue to see what I can find out.

IT'S ALL ABOUT ME

Yesterday was my grooming day at Shampooch. It was time for me to get gussied up for the holidays. It must be working because everyone I meet these days (the vet, the groomer) says how cute I am. I mustn't let it go to my head.

        

Now I really look nice. I got a new Christmas-themed scarf, but it doesn't show much under my coat. Marilyn got some material to make me another coat, but I doubt it will be ready in time to be under the Christmas tree.

                                      

It has been a busy week for me. On Monday to the Vet for a complete checkup $364.71. Tuesday to the Vet for dental work $387.88. Today Shampooch $49.35.

I am a high maintenance dog. but I try to earn my keep by warning M & A of any passing bus, mailman, UPS delivery, etc.
